Cameron is a leading provider of flow equipment products, systems and services to oil, gas and process industries.
Cameron’s Process Systems division provides equipment and services for the separation and treatment of oil, gas, water and solids, offering standard and custom-engineered equipment for a range of applications.
All of Cameron’s products are backed by the reliability of the Cameron Services network, with highly trained OEM technicians and technology solutions that deliver new levels of efficiency.
One of these technologies is the state-of-the-art PN1 multi-fiber membrane. This jointly-owned technology was developed by 6 engineers from Petronas and a team of Cameron’s gas processing engineers.
Cameron and PETRONAS began collaboration on R&D efforts in 2007, aiming to improve the performance of Cameron’s legacy Cynara C02 membranes, particularly for projects involving large offshore C02 removal.
The result is a patented enhancement named the “PN1 Membrane Element”. PN1 improves the overall performance of the Cynara membrane element by segregating the membrane fibers into two separate zones, each with different performance characteristics. This is enabled by using PN1’s unique 30” diameter membrane elements, which is one of the largest of its kind in the world.
Cameron’s Custom Process System (CPS) KL, is currently undertaking the design and supply of the largest Acid Gas Removal System (AGRS) in the history of Cameron CPS. The AGRS is for Samsung Engineering Co.Ltd, as part of Petronas Carigali’s (PCSB) Terengganu Gas Terminal (TGAST) ENERGY Project.
This will be the first onshore acid gas removal system for PETRONAS. The facility has been designed to receive 700MMscfd of natural gas, and must remove various contaminants such as C02, H2S, Mercaptans and Mercury
There are 5 primary membrane trains each with 16 nos. of membrane housings. Each housing is fitted with a 30” PN1 membrane element, to allow CO2 removal from the feed gas in the range of 15% to 25% down to the required sales gas specification of 8%.
PN1 is the largest available membrane of its kind that is optimized for large projects. It features 8 to 10% more capacity than conventional fiber modules, thus lowering footprint requirements as well as CAPEX and OPEX. Our technology offers improved hydrocarbon recovery compared to competitors’ technology because of PN1’s minimal hydrocarbon losses
CYNARA membranes have been successfully operating for over 31 years with continuous operations at over 99.6% availability at SACROC. Our product does not require any superheating, and has fully automated operation with remote monitoring capabilities. Our unique hollow fiber module design supports high liquid hydrocarbon recovery, and removes H2S along with C02.
The TGAST facility is expected to deliver the first commercial gas to their buyer in July 2016. Upon completion, this facility will be a showcase plant demonstrating the state-of-the-art PN1 membrane.
From upstream to downstream, onshore to offshore, we are there! We have one distinct vision – to create the flow control technology that energizes the world.
Cameron. Raising performance – together!
